MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team will open up the 2012-13 season this weekend at the Pittsburg State Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. The Mustangs will start with a game versus No. 3 Pittsburg State on Friday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m., followed by a game on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. versus Missouri Southern State. SMSU has failed to win its opening game since the 2008-09 season when the Mustangs defeated No. 9 Delta State (Miss.) on Oct. 31 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The win also was the last time SMSU had defeated a ranked opponent.
