THIS WEEK: The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team (16-10, 15-7 NSIC), winners of six of its last seven, opens the 2012 postseason hosting the University of Minnesota Duluth (14-12, 11-11 NSIC) in the quarterfinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m. at the R/A Facility. SMSU and UMD will be meeting for the third time this season with each team winning on its home court. Minnesota Duluth earned a 94-90 win in Duluth on Jan. 20, before SMSU picked up the 90-69 victory on Feb. 18 in Marshall. If SMSU defeats UMD on Wednesday, it will play either No. 3 St. Cloud State or No. 6 Winona State in the semifinals on Saturday, March 3, at Taylor Arena in Rochester, Minn. The championship game will be played on Sunday, March 4, starting at 4:30 p.m.
