MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball returns to action on Thursday competing at the annual National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NIWBT) in Champaign, Ill.
SMSU (7-12) opens the tournament as the No. 6 seed and faces No. 3 seed the University of Alabama at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Huff Hall Gym on the campus of the University of Illinois.
If SMSU wins, it will play at 5 p.m. on Friday versus either Wisconsin-Whitewater or Edinboro (Pa.), while a loss on Thursday night would move SMSU into a 1 p.m. game versus either UWW or EU.
SMSU lost its only game versus Alabama earlier this season. The Mustangs have won three NIWBT championships in program history.
