THIS WEEK - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (2-15, 1-11 NSIC) returns home to the R/A Facility for rematches against Upper Iowa on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. and Winona State on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. Saturday's rematch versus Winona State is SMSU's annual "Hawaiian Night" game in which fans are encouraged to dress in "tropical" gear to cheer on the Mustangs and forget the cold, winter season.
LAST TIME OUT - Southwest Minnesota State dropped both road games this past weekend to Northern State and MSU Moorhead after getting its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win on Tuesday versus Sioux Falls. In the 64-46 loss to Northern State on Friday, the Mustangs were led by
Bree Holleman's 14 points - her 10th double-digit scoring game of the season. SMSU finished the game with 21 turnovers - its most since its 86-56 loss to Minnesota State, Mankato on Dec. 14, 2012. On Saturday, SMSU fell 72-62 to MSU Moorhead in a game that the Dragons pulled down 17 offensive rebounds. MSU Moorhead controlled the Mustangs throughout the games as the Dragons handled the scoreboard and the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs 45-32. Three Mustangs recorded double-digit scoring as
Alison Nagel finished with 18,
Mikayla Saathoff had 10 and
Rebekah Rolling led with a career-high 19.
