SMSU travels to the west coast for a pair of games in the Golden State

OPENING TIP
The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball will travel west to the Golden State for a pair of non-conference games versus Notre Dame de Namur (Calif. ) and Cal State Monterey Bay starting on Friday. The Mustangs will first square off with Notre Dame on Friday at 7:30 p.m. central time before returning to action the following day at 4 p.m. central time versus Cal State. SMSU is looking for its first 2-0 start since the 2008-09 season and first under fourth-year head coach Allison Kruger.

LAST TIME OUT
Alison Nagel's career-high 28 points led Southwest Minnesota State over Crown College 101-43 on Monday night in the Mustangs' season opener. It was the first time that SMSU has scored 100 points in a game since scoring 105 versus Minnesota-Morris on Dec. 19, 2008. Nagel played just 16 minutes in the game. SMSU (1-0) scored 53 points in the first half -- marking the first time the Mustangs have scored 50+ points in a half since scoring 51 versus Dordt on Nov. 17, 2009. SMSU finished the game shooting 45.7 percent (37-81), including 9 of 31 behind the arc. SMSU's 37 field goals made was the most since connecting on 36 versus Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 6, 2010. Annessa Rosch tied a career-high by scoring 17, while Bree Holleman rounded out SMSU's double-digit scorers with her 12 points. Hannah Beeler grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the win and finished just two points shy of her first career double-double.

SMSU forced 28 turnovers in the game, while recording 15 steals. The 28 turnovers forced was the most since forcing 27 versus Upper Iowa on Dec. 17, 2011. 11 of the 13 Mustangs that played in the game recorded points, including Kendra Snaza who scored her first collegiate point at the 9:06 mark in the second half to put SMSU up 51. Snaza scored five points in her first collegiate action -- finishing 2 of 3 from the floor.

HOLLEMAN'S MILESTONE
Bree Holleman connected on her 100th career three pointer on Jan. 5, 2013, versus Upper Iowa. Holleman currently ranks among the top 10 in SMSU history in two 3-point categories, 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage. Holleman passed Erin Frye on Nov. 11, 2013 when she connected on 3 of 5 3-pointers versus Crown College.
