>Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. — No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State (12-5, 7-2 NSIC) increased its sweeping streak to five as the Mustangs swept MSU Moorhead (7-10, 2-7 NSIC) by scores of 26-24, 25-12, 25-23.
Abbey Thissen had a dominating night as the she finished hitting .429 with 16 kills to lead the Mustangs.
Eisha Oden hit .450 with 12 kills along with
Sarah Parker recorded 10 kills hitting .346 in the sweep.
Megan Larson dished out 29 assists in the match.
Sarah Parker lead the way putting up seven blocks of the 12 total on the night.
In set one, both teams kept it close until SMSU went on a six point scoring streak to make the score 19-15. MSUM came back with a five-point streak to knot up the score late at 22-22. SMSU finished the set, 26-24 with Thissen and
Sarah Parker recording back-to-back kills.
Southwest Minnesota State started set two with a dominating 11-2 charge. The Dragons could not recover and SMSU took set two, 25-12.
The Dragons came out more powerfully in set three as MSUM took an early 4-0 lead. SMSU fought back with four straight points to tie it up at 4-4. The Mustangs trailed most of the set until
Megan Larson recorded a service ace to put SMSU up 13-12. Three points after the ace gave the Mustangs a lead until the Dragons took it back late in the set. SMSU eventually finished the set with back-to-back kills by
Eisha Oden and
Abbey Thissen.
Southwest Minnesota State will continue NSIC action tomorrow as it travels to Northern State. Match set to start at 3 p.m.
