MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State suffered its fifth Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss to Northern State 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
SMSU moves to 8-7-1 overall, 7-5-1 NSIC while NSU improves to 6-10 overall and 5-8 in the NSIC.
Allie MacDonald scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute for Northern State.
Southwest Minnesota State outshot Northern State with 11 shots in the match compared to NSU's eight. Miranda Cadena led the Mustangs with three shots—two on goal—while Autumn Hayes and Lizzy Bruder fired a pair each.
NSU goalie, Brittany Tietz recorded six saves in the match while Brienna Dehkes tallied three. Dehkes moves her record to 6-7 on the season.
SMSU travels to Wayne, Neb., to play Wayne State on Friday afternoon at Memorial Stadium/Bob Cunningham Field. Kickoff is set to be at 1 p.m.
