Four Mustangs score in victory over St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Four different Southwest Minnesota State players scored in 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium.

SMSU (5-4, 4-2 NSIC) recorded 20 shots in the match—15 on goal. SCSU (3-6, 2-4 NSIC) had 10 shots in the match, only five on goal.

Kendahl Fisher found the back of the net early for the Mustangs in the 6th minute off an assist from Miranda Cadena. Cadena earned her first goal of the game and 7th of the season in the  9th minute. Alex Pantze joined in the scoring moments later in the 13th minute off a Kendahl Fisher assist.

SCSU scored just before halftime to make the score 3-1 going into the break.

In the 74th minute, Cadena scored again from a Fisher assist to increase the Mustangs lead. Amanda Hartmann helped seal the game in the 78th minute with a goal from an assist from Fisher.

Miranda Cadena now has 27 career goals after the pair of goals today and is just one behind the record leader. Kendahl Fisher also is closing in on the record leader in assists after todays match. Fisher has 22 career assists and is just three behind the leader.

Southwest Minnesota State will continue on its road trip as they travel to Duluth, Minn., to play Minnesota Duluth. Kickoff is set to be at 1 p.m. from James S. Malosky Stadium.
