MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team opens the 2014-15 dual match season tomorrow hosting St. John's University in the PE Gym starting at 7 p.m.
The dual is the first of 17 for SMSU this season, including six at home. The Mustangs finished 12-5 last season, including 6-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches.
SMSU holds a 12-8 all-time lead in duals versus St. John's, including earning a 22-13 victory last season in Collegeville, Minn.
SMSU officially opened its season this past Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D., with two Mustangs finishing in third place.
Jacob Begin earned third place at 174 pounds finishing with a 4-1 record, while
Cole Wilson at 285 pounds recorded a third place finish with an 8-1 record.
Head coach
Jesse Nelson, the 2013-14 NSIC Coach of the Year, is in his eighth season at SMSU.
