MARSHALL, Minn. — The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team closed its exhibition season on Sunday afternoon with an 87-48 loss to the NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center.
SMSU had a pair of players score in double digits as
Lauren Hedlund led the Mustangs with 16 points and seven rebounds while
Emilee Duske contributed 11 points.
Hope Bonlander led SMSU with eight rebounds.
Annessa Rosch powered the offense with five assists.
The Mustangs were just 30 percent from the floor as they were 16-54 and 13 percent (2-16) from behind the arc. SMSU held a 47-35 rebound advantage including pulling down 15 offensive rebounds.
UW-Milwaukee led during the whole game having its largest lead of 43 in the second half with 1:33 left. UWM tallied 29 points off of SMSU's 32 turnovers.
Southwest Minnesota State will start regular season play on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. in the R/A Facility against Metro State—part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
