JANUARY 2-3 - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (0-10, 0-6 NSIC) will start the new year with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference home games on Jan. 2-3, 2015. The Mustangs take on Wayne State College (9-3, 3-3 NSIC) on Friday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m., before playing Augustana College (9-4, 3-3 NSIC) on Saturday, Jan. 3, with a 5 p.m. tip off.
RADIO - Both games on Jan. 2-3 will be broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling play-by-play and Anthony Rohlik serving as analyst.
ABOUT WAYNE STATE - The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 9-3 record, including 3-3 in the NSIC. WSC opened up NSIC play with back-to-back wins but has suffered losses in three of its past four games. Jordan Spencer leads the Wildcat offense averaging 16.3 ppg, while shooting 52 percent from the floor. Spencer also has leads the team with 26 steals this season. Spencer and Maggie Schulte both control the boards as they combine for a 7.2 rpg average so far this season. Chris Kielsmeier is in his seventh season as head coach at Wayne State with a record of 153-43.
WAYNE STATE SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State will meet for the 47th time with WSC holding a 28-18 advantage in a series that started back in 1991. ABOUT AUGUSTANA - The Vikings will enter the weekend with 9-4 overall record and 3-3 in the NSIC. Augustana opened up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with three losses but since, have won three straight, including defeating nationally ranked Wayne State on Dec. 20. Augustana will play at the University of Sioux Falls on Jan. 2 before playing SMSU. The Vikings are led by Shaunteva Ashley, who is averaging 21. 8 ppg and has dished out 69 assists. Nicole Kerkhoff controls the rebounds averaging 6.3 rpg while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor. Dave Krauth is in his 25th season as head coach at Augustana with a 518-232 overall record.
AUGUSTANA SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana will meet for the 35th time with Augustana holding a 23-11 advantage in a series that started back in 1969.
