Minnesota Crookston hits 11 3-pointers to down SMSU on Hawaiian Night

MARSHALL, Minn. -
The University of Minnesota Crookston hit 11 3-point shots to down Southwest Minnesota State 76-69 on Hawaiian Night in Marshall.

SMSU was down 10 with 6:10 to go, but rallied to cut the Golden Eagle down to three with a 9-2 run. That was the closest SMSU got as the Golden Eagles finished the final 3:18 on a 7-3 run. Alison Nagel hit a 3-pointer as time expired.
The win improved the Golden Eagles to 8-12 overall, 5-11 in the NSIC. It was UMC's first road NSIC win of the season.
SMSU drops to 4-16 overall, 2-14 in the NSIC.

Alexa Thielman had a game-high 18 points on 7 of 18 shooting. Three other Golden Eagles notched double-digit scoring – Christine Thorn (16), Katrina Moenkedick (13) and Ashley Martell (12).

Alison Nagel led SMSU with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while Bree Holleman finished with 14 points and four assists. Mikayla Saathoff, who just missed tying the SMSU single-game record (14) for assists last night, finished with seven points and seven assists. 

UMC scored 45 second half points on 51 percent shooting.

SMSU will hit the road next weekend with contests versus Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul.
