BISMARCK, N.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team fell 73-65 to U-Mary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Friday.
Alison Nagel scored a game-high 22 points for SMSU in the loss.
SMSU built its largest lead of the game at 10 points with 4:33 to play in the first half, but U-Mary closed the gap to just three as the first half ended. SMSU shot 51.5 percent from the floor in the half and made 17 field goals.
SMSU couldn't keep the hot shooting going in the second half as the Mustangs went cold. SMSU shot just 33.3 percent in the second half and scored just 25 points after scoring 40 in the first.
U-Mary used a balanced scoring attack to lead the comeback as five Marauders collected double-digit point totals. Mckenzie Foster led the way for U-Mary with 17 points. Linda Murray scored 13 points in addition to a game-high 14 rebounds.
SMSU will be back in action tomorrow night at Minot State.
