BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team struggled against Bemidji State as it lost 6-2 at the BSU Soccer Complex Saturday afternoon.
The six goals were the most given up by the Mustangs since playing Wisconsin-Parkside in September of 2007 in St. Paul, Minn., and the second time in program history (2006) against BSU.
SMSU (4-6-1, 4-4 NSIC) struck early in the second minute as
Kylie Redmond found the back of the net for her second goal of the season after a blocked shot.
BSU (7-4, 4-4 NSIC) responded with three-straight goals to lead at the break, 3-1. The Beavers added another goal just 10 minutes after the intermission to go up 4-1.
The Mustangs tried to come back as Redmond scored her second goal the game in the 60th minute to cut the Beaver lead to 4-2.
BSU would not let up as they tagged on two more goals to secure the 6-2 win and hand SMSU it's first loss in Bemdji since 2011.
Brienna Dehkes recorded four saves and suffered her third loss of the season as she drops to 1-3 on the year.
Redmond led the Mustangs with four shots, three being on goal and a pair of goals.

Jaci Finley each tallied one shot.
Southwest Minnesota State will look to rebound as it heads to Minnesota Crookston for a 1 p.m. start.
