Box ScoreCROOKSTON, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team held off Minnesota Crookston, 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to finish the weekend 1-1.
UMC (3-8-1, 3-6) started the scoring first in the 12th minute to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
SMSU (5-6-1, 5-4 NSIC) retaliated with a pair of goals after 
Kylie Redmond scored her fourth goal of the season off the foot of 
Megan Kilroy in 34th minute. Six minutes later, the Mustangs scored their second goal after Kilroy found the back of the net from a pass from 
Kendahl Fisher.
SMSU would hold of UMC in the final 45 minutes of action to split the weekend road trip.
Kristy Leopold got the start in goal and recorded three huge saves in her fourth win. She faced five corner kicks and also saw 10 shots from the Golden Eagles.
Emily Huddleston led the Mustangs with three shots on goal but failed to find the back of the net.
Southwest Minnesota State will return home and face Upper Iowa and Winona State. Both games are set to start at 1 p.m., from the Schwan Regional Event Center.
