Box Score FAYETTE, Iowa — The No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team swept Upper Iowa Friday night by scores of 27-25, 25-23, 25-15.
SMSU won its 19th straight match over UIU to remain undefeated in the series while also recorded its 15th sweep of the series.
Taylor Reiss recorded a career-high as the freshman grounded 17 kills while also hitting .359.
Sarah Parker also racked up double-digit kills with 12, while
Abbey Thissen contributed 8 kills. Magan Larson jump-started the offense with 35 assists in the sweep.
The Mustangs defense was in full effect tonight as they held the Peacocks to a .157 hitting percentage while also putting up 11 blocks for their fifth match with double-digits rejections. Reiss led the defense with a career-high nine blocks—eight assists; one solo—while Parker added four blocks.
Whitney Burmeister led the squad with 15 digs in the match.
SMSU moves to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC and will face No. 25 Winona State tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the McCown Gymnasium.
