Mustangs score late to drop Bulldogs at home

MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota States' Jaci Finley scored her first career goal in the 83rd minute to defeat Minnesota Duluth 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The win is SMSU's second win against UMD at the Schwan Regional Event center and just it's third of the series.

Jaci Finley scored her first game winning and career goal late in the game off the foot of Morgan Weyer-Coates to close out the home stand and give the Mustangs a six-point weekend at home.

SMSU lead in all categories as it held a 10-5 advantage in shots and a 9-5 total in corner kicks. Both teams tallied three shots on goal.

Brienna Dehkes earned her first win of the season as she tallied three big saves in the win and in the process recorded her 13th career shutout.

Emily Huddleston led the Mustangs with four shots while Miranda Cadena added a pair.

Southwest Minnesota State moves to 4-5-1 overall, 4-3 in the NSIC and will head to Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston next weekend.
