Mustangs conclude road trip at Augustana and Wayne State this weekend

THIS WEEKEND - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (3-19, 3-15 NSIC) will continue on its four-game road trip in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action after suffering a pair of losses last weekend. The Mustangs will head to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on Augustana (16-9, 10-8 NSIC) for a 6 p.m. tip off before playing at Wayne State (21-3, 15-3 NSIC) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
    SMSU begins the weekend eighth in the NSIC South Division standings and 16th overall. Augustana is fifth in the NSIC South Division and sits seventh overall. WSU is first in the South Division standings and first overall.

RADIO - The games this weekend will be broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling play-by-play and Anthony Rohlik serving as analyst.

ABOUT AUGUSTANA - The Vikings, picked to finish fourth in the NSIC South and fifth overall, will enter the weekend with a 16-9 overall record and 10-8 in the NSIC. UMC split games last weekend as it took down No. 16 Northern State before losing to MSU Moorhead Saturday. The Vikings are led by Shaunteva Ashley who averages 21 ppg (scored 29 points vs SMSU earlier this season) and Allison Koehn who averages 19 ppg and shoots 57 percent from behind the arc. Nicole Kerkhoff controls boards as she averages 7 rpg. Logan O'Farrell makes her mark as she has recorded 27 blocks this season. Dave Krauth is in his 25th season as head coach at Augustana.

ABOUT WAYNE STATE - The Wolves, picked to first in the NSIC South and second overall, will enter the weekend with a 21-3 record, including 15-3 in the NSIC. WSC has won the last 12 games with its last loss coming back on Dec. 20 to Augustana at home. The Wolves recorded two wins at home last weekend as they defeated MSU Moorhead and edged out Northern State, 58-57. Wayne State will play Sioux Falls Friday night before playing SMSU Saturday. Jordan Spencer leads the Wolves in scoring with 15 ppg while shooting 52 percent and also pulls down a team-high seven rpg. Ashton Yossi makes her mark with her 12 ppg while Millie Niggeling shoots 42 percent from behind the arc. Chris Kielsmeier is in his 7th season as head coach at Wayne State.

HEAD COACH ALLISON KRUGER - Allison Kruger is in her fifth season as head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University and has compiled a record of 24-106, including 18-89 in NSIC play. Prior to SMSU, Kruger spent two seasons as assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of South Dakota and four years at Wayne State.
