Box Score MARSHALL, Minn. — No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss in its home opener to No. 8 Wayne State College Saturday afternoon in the PE Gym. Mustangs lost by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-19.
Abbey Thissen led all scorers with 13 kills while hitting .323, while
Sarah Parker and
Eisha Oden grounded eight and six kills, respectfully.
Megan Larson paced the offense with 31 assists and
Whitney Burmeister racked up 17 digs in the loss.
The Wildcats were in sync, as they finished hitting .317 while causing the Mustangs to tally seven receiving errors. WSC controlled the net, putting up eight team blocks and holding SMSU to a .164 hitting percentage with a season-low 36 kills.
Southwest Minnesota State (7-2, 1-1 NSIC) will head to Sioux Falls on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match with the Cougars.
