FHSU went into the half with just one shot recorded on the Mustang defense but put up 12 in the second half, including the game-winner in the 90th minute.
SMSU was limited to just two shots in the second half.
FHSU's Kristen Thompson racked up five saves while picking up the win in net.
The loss marks the second straight season SMSU has dropped its season-opener to FHSU.
Up next for SMSU (0-1) is a battle with Wasburn on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
