BSU slips past SMSU on Saturday afternoon

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State, the seventh ranked team in the NCAA Central Region, snapped a 1-1 game with a goal in the 60th minute to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 2-1 on Saturday at Chet Anderson Stadium.
 
Trailing, 1-0 at halftime, SMSU (5-9-1, 4-7-1 NSIC) tied the game in the 50th minute on Emily Huddleston's fifth goal of the season off an assist from Brenna Giddings.
 
BSU's Dani Nelson answered 10 minutes later netting her first goal of the season for the game-winner to put the Beavers back on top 2-1.
 
SMSU finished with 13 shots, including nine on goal, with Huddleston leading the way with five on goal.
 
BSU (11-4, 9-3 NSIC) closed the game with 27 shots, with nine on goal.
 
SMSU's Jessica Craigmile made seven saves in the losing effort.
 
Southwest Minnesota State closes the weekend tomorrow playing at Minnesota Crookston starting at 1 p.m.
