MARSHALL, Minn.- The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (0-2, 0-0) heads into its second weekend of the regular season and will be traveling to the campus of the University of Sioux Falls to compete in the USF classic. The Mustangs will first play William Jewell (Mo.) (0-0,0-0) on Friday at 6 p.m. SMSU will then play South Dakota Tech (0-2, 0-0) on Saturday at 4 p.m.

•Tuesday's game will broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling the play-by-play for SMSU basketball for the fourth straight season.

SERIES HISTORY:
William Jewell
•Southwest Minnesota State won the only meeting between the Mustangs and the Cardinals 61-58 back in the 1997-98 season in the Northwestern Tournament.

GAME DAY STORYLINES:
• SMSU is still seeking its first win of the season looking to get off to a better start than last season. The Mustangs lost their first five games to begin the 2015-16 season and thier first 11 games of the 2014-15. SMSU holds a 5-20 record in the month of November in the last five seasons
• Mustangs' freshman forward,
Caleigh Rodning, leads SMSU in scoring (11.0 ppg) through her first two career games
• SMSU was effective at getting to the free throw line last weekend shooting 72 percent from the charity stripe on 39 attempts
• After appearing in all 29 games last season,
Taylor Holicky made her first career start, leading the Mustangs in scoring against Mo. Western State with 14 points going 5-of-6 from the field
• The Mustangs were forced to play the first weekend in the absence of sisters and former Marshall High School standouts Sarah and
Emily Buysse. In covering for the Buysse sisters, every palyer on SMSU's roster averaged more minutes on the court than their career averages last weekend.
• Through two games, SMSU posted a higher overall shooting percentage (.359), three-point shooting (.379), and free throw shooting percentages (.718) than they finished the 2015-16 season.
