CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball closed the regular season on Feb. 12-13 winning one of three games at the University of Illinois Tournament.
SMSU (14-16) opened with a 59-38 loss to Missouri, before suffering an 81-63 loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Mustangs closed the weekend with a 78-69 victory over Arizona State.
David Evjen scored 11 points with eight rebounds in the loss to Missouri with teammate
Walter Johnson adding 10 points and six rebounds.
In the loss to UWW, Evjen poured in a game-high 29 points and also dished out eight assists.
Raymone Brown added 16 points.
In the final game, Brown scored 19 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the win over ASU. Evjen also had a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists.
Joel Adams chipped in with 18 points and six assists.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action March 10-12 at the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in Edinboro, Pa.
