CLERMONT, Fla. —
The Southwest Minnesota State softball team suffered a pair of losses today at the Spring Games in Florida. The Mustangs lost to Lock Haven 3-2, before losing to Northwood (MI) 7-1.

In game one, Alex O'Connor pitch the complete game striking out 11 batters, while giving up seven hits and walking just four in the loss.

Alex Reak led SMSU going 2 for 3 from the dish, while Taylor Chavez recorded the lone RBI in the game.

Lock Haven scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning after a double down the left field line. SMSU responded in the sixth inning after Chavez singled to right field to score Karmann Carroll. LHU broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the inning with a double to left center, which scored two runs. The Mustangs tried to come back in the seventh inning when they scored on a wild pitch, but that would be all they would.

In the second game, Athena Golling got the nod and pitched 2 2/3 innings, before Shelby Crank came in to relieve her. Golling gave up five runs on three hits, while Crank tallied two strikeouts and gave up six hits.

Mikenzi Wiseman went 2 for 2 from the plate, including a walk to lead SMSU. Janae Annetts recorded the lone RBI for the Mustangs as they totaled five hits in the loss.

Northwood jumped out to a 7-0 lead through six innings, after scoring first in the second inning and added runs in the third, fifth and sixth. Annetts singled in the sixth to score Taylor Chavez for SMSU's only run of the game.

SMSU will face Post University and California University (PA) tomorrow at 12 p.m., and 2 p.m., respectfully. Both times are CST.
