DENVER, Colo.— The Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball team advances to the Championship game of the Colorado Premier Challenge for the third time ever after defeating Angelo State (Texas) 25-22, 25-20, 27-25.
The 3-0 victory for the Mustangs is now the fourth consecutive sweep for the Mustangs and moves them into their first championship appearance at the Colorado Premier since 2010.
Taylor Reiss had her best match of the weekend finishing with a double-double on 20 kills and 11 digs and a hitting percentage of .419.
Kaylee Burmeister also finished with a double-double, adding 10 kills and a team high 13 digs.
Sarah Parker had another solid match adding another 11 kills while
Eisha Oden led the team with 5 blocks.
The match remained tight throughout but SMSU was able to edge out ASU in the final set to advance to the championship game against either defending national champions, Wheeling Jesuit (Neb.) or No 1. Concordia-St. Paul.
The Mustangs' championship match will be played at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colo. tonight at 8 p.m. CDT.
