MINOT, N.D.- Southwest Minnesota State dropped its second match of the weekend as Minot State scored two second half goals to pull away in a 3-0 win over SMSU on Sunday afternoon.
SMSU struggled to create scoring chances for a second time this weekend as it finished the match with just four shots on goal while Minot State finished with 14 shots on goal.
The Beavers would end the contest with a 24-11 advantage in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corners.
Sofia Lewis was the first on the score sheet with a headed effort that found the net in the 22nd minute to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead which they would carry into the halftime break.
Kellie Creese added to the Minot State lead with a 63rd minute goal which was followed up less than five minutes later by a goal from Syndee Canales to make the Beavers' lead 3-0.
SMSU will look to snap its losing skid on Friday night as it hosts Upper Iowa at 5 p.m., at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
