WAYNE, Neb.- Southwest Minnesota State surrendered an early goal on a cold and windy afternoon on the road at Wayne State, which secured its fourth clean sheet of the season in what ended a 1-0 win for WSC on Friday afternoon at the
Rachel Fraser scored what would prove to be the only goal of the match in the ninth minute directly off of a corner kick.
WSC went into halftime with the 1-0 lead after holding a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corners in the first 45 minutes of play.
Wayne State also saw more goal scoring chances in the second half as the Wildcats finished with an 18-8 advantage in total shots for the match.
The Mustangs finished the match with just two shots on goal while
Jenna Meyer was forced to make eight saves in net for SMSU.
Rachel Grisham was forced to make just two saves in the match to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
SMSU will return to Marshall for its regular season finale as they play Augustana on Senior Day this Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m., at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
