WINONA, Minn.- Amanda Hartmann scored a late goal for Southwest Minnesota State to snap the Mustangs' scoreless streak, but the offense would come too late as Winona State came away with a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon in the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The Mustangs tested Winona State goalkeeper, Rachel Oleson with nine shots on target out of 11 total shots for SMSU on the afternoon. Winona State finished the match with 10 shots on target out of 16 total shot attempts.
Although the Mustangs' were able to get behind the Warriors' defense at times, they were unable to keep up with a Winona State offense that netted two first half goals.
Winona State found the net in the 18th minute when Abby Bohanski put away a rebound to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
The Warriors doubled their lead less than ten minutes later on a goal from Georgette Topalis in the 27th minute.

Jenna Meyer to put Winona State ahead 3-0.
Amanda Hartmann's 84th minute goal, which was assisted by
Emily Hofmann, snapped a streak of four consecutive scoreless matches for SMSU but the Warriors' three-goal lead was enough cushion to hold up the decision for WSU.
SMSU begins the stretch of three consecutive road matches with a loss after dropping a tight 1-0 contest to Upper Iowa on Friday night.
The Mustangs will return to the road next weekend as they travel to play at Minnesota Duluth followed by St. Cloud State next Saturday and Sunday.
