Mustangs finish 2-3 in Wisconsin

WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team finished 2-3 last weekend at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament.

SMSU is now 4-3 overall and returns to play on Dec. 1-2 in Columbia, Missouri.

SMSU opened play last weekend with a 56-51 win over Edinboro (Pa.). Jesus Villa led the Mustangs with 25 points on 9 of 28 shooting with three 3-pointers. Matthew Talbot added 16 points on 8 of 11 shooting.

The Mustangs dropped a 68-36 decision to Missouri in game two on Friday. Talbot scored 10 points for the Mustangs, while Villa and Jon Fagre each added seven points.

SMSU closed the day Friday with an 88-52 setback to Wisconsin-Whitewater. Villa scored a team-high 22 points with five 3-pointers, while Ryan Kile chipped in with 12.

On Saturday, SMSU dropped a tough 67-57 game to Illinois with Villa pouring in 23 points on 9 of 23 shooting. Kile (14) and Ezekiel Ramudzi (12) each finished in double figure scoring.

The Mustangs wrapped up the weekend with a 58-53 victory over Nebraska-Omaha. Villa once again led the way with 18 points, while Kile scored 12 and Farge adding 11 points.
