MINNETONKA, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul used a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10
th inning to rally for a 7-3 victory in game two of a NSIC doubleheader on Sunday at Veterans Field.

CSP won the opener 11-1 and took three of four games from SMSU in the conference opening series for both teams.
CSP improves to 9-7 overall, 3-1 NSIC, while SMSU drop to 6-8 overall, 1-3 NSIC.

In game two, SMSU jumped to an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single by
Derek Branson and a run-scoring single by
Shane Sellner.

SMSU pushed to the lead to 3-0 in the fourth as
Tanner Luebke doubled and later scored on a ground out by
Kody Larson.
Â
CSP rallied to tie the game in the fourth inning, putting together five hits to plate three runs.
Â
SMSU had little luck versus CSP relief pitcher Connor Hurley, who tossed six no-hit, shutout innings with six strikeouts.

The Mustangs best chance to break the tie came in the ninth inning as
Liam Lopez was hit by a pitch to start the frame. He later moved to second on a passed ball, but a pop out, ground and fly out ended the threat.

Jeremy Stouffer started on the mound for SMSU and lasted six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
Jared Tschetter (1-2) took the loss pitching two innings of relief. CSP loaded the bases in the 10
th with three walks before Connor Olson ended the game with two outs for his second home run of the season.

SMSU finished with seven hits in the game, with two each by Branson and
Jayden Fleck.

In game one, Fleck led off the contest with a single and came around to score on an RBI single by Branson.

CSP quickly answered with a five-run first inning off SMSU starter
Erik Thorvilson (0-2) and never looked back in earning the win. The Golden Bears would later score two in the second, one in the third and three more in fourth.

Southwest Minnesota State will step out of NSIC play on Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader at Northwestern College (Iowa).
