MARSHALL, Minn. – Northern State snapped a 1-1 tie with an early second half goal to earn a 2-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's soccer on Saturday at the Schwan Regional Center.

NSU (3-1, 2-0 NSIC) broke the tie with a goal from Nicole Griffith from 25 yards out in the 47
th minute.

NSU opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Stephany Estrada scored her first of the season to give the Wolves an early advantage.

SMSU (0-4, 0-2 NSIC) finally broke free in the 14
th minute as
Fabiana Peiro scored off a perfect pass from
Amanda Hartmann to tie the score at 1-1. It was the first goal for SMSU this season.

NSU goalkeeper Justin Charles earned the victory making four saves.
