MARSHALL, Minn.- Southwest Minnesota State (5-4, 1-2 NSIC) racked up three pins as SMSU throttled Northern State (1-8, 0-2 NSIC), 37-3 on Friday night the PE Gym for its first conference win of the 2017-18 season.
Taylor Curtis (125) got SMSU off to a strong start for a second straight dual with a 15-4 major decision at 125.
Brock Buysse (133) earned a win by fall at 3:47 and
Justin Haneke (149) grabbed his eighth pin of the year at 2:21 to put SMSU ahead 16-3.
Cortez Arredondo (157) grabbed his second win of the week with a tight 3-2 decision and
Kegen Fingalsen (165) received a win by forfeit which but the Mustangs ahead 25-3.
Cole Hennen (184) and Jack Ryan (197) both fought their way to close victories and
Andrew Petersen (285) capped off the night with the quickest pin of the dual, winning by fall at 1:28 to give the Mustangs the 37-3 win.
Southwest Minnesota State will now host Dakota-Wesleyan in a nonconference dual on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., in the PE Gym.
