PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State (1-2) fell to No. 7 Regis (2-2) in five sets (25-17, 23-25, 14-25, 26-24, 15-8) in the Mustangs' second consecutive loss of the West Florida Invitational at the UWF Fieldhouse this afternoon.

Taylor Reiss delivered a match-high 33 kills as the Mustangs attempted to rally after going down in the first set 25-17. Reiss hit .389 throughout the match and added 14 digs.

Despite the loss in the first set, the Mustangs responded by taking the second and third set hitting .233 and .370 respectively. Â The first set was last tied at 10-10 until the Rangers pulled ahead to gain the upper hand.

The Rangers jumped ahead in the second set early on to gain a 7-3 lead over the Mustangs before
Meg Schmidt dished out two kills to get the Mustangs back in the game.

Kaylee Burmeister added 19 digs while libero
Sydney Omtvedt added 20 and
Erin Corrigan added 17 digs to hold the Rangers at .255 hitting percentage throughout the match.

Mustangs took an early 5-0 lead in the third set launched by a service ace from Burmeister and four consecutive kills from Reiss. The Mustangs went on to pick up the third set but fell short in the fourth and fifth sets.
No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State will take on No. 24 Wheeling Jesuit this evening to complete the Mustangs contents in the West Florida Invitational.
