MARSHALL, Minn. -- The No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team remained perfect in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play earning a 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 victory over the University of Sioux Falls on Tuesday night at the PE Gym.
SMSU improves to 8-3 overall, 3-0 NSIC, while USF drops to 6-5 overall, 1-2 NSIC.
Taylor Reiss paced the SMSU offense with a match-high 13 kills and added 10 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.
Meg Schmidt finished with 11 kills, while
Angela Young chipped in with 10 kills for SMSU, which finished the match hitting .287.
Emma Thomssen dished out 38 assists for the Mustang offense, while
Kaylee Burmeister recorded 10 digs the help SMSU limit the USF attack to a .074 hitting percentage.

Caedyn Reinhardt finished the match with four blocks, including three solo. The Mustangs finished the night with 12 total blocks.
In the opening set, the teams were tied at 9-9, before a kill from Reiss started a 4-0 spurt to give SMSU a 13-9 lead. SMSU would then scored eight of the 11 points to build a 21-12 lead and cruise to the set victory.
In set two, USF held a 10-7 advantage before SMSU reeled off seven straight points, highlighted by two kills from Young and a kill from Reinhardt. SMSU would later lead 19-13, but USF answered back with six unanswered points to tie the set at 19-19. Reiss and Schmidt stopped the run with back-to-back kills to help SMSU pull away for the set victory.
In the final set, USF jumped out a 4-1 lead, but SMSU countered with a 7-2 run to take the lead and never looked back in completing the sweep.
Southwest Minnesota State continues NSIC play on Friday night hosting Winona State at 6 p.m.
