WAYNE, Neb. - The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team triumphed over Wayne State on Sunday afternoon in a 4-3 victory in overtime. After going down 3-0 in the first half, the Mustangs (2-3, 2-1 NSIC) scored four unanswered goals to take down WSC (1-4, 1-2 NSIC) in SMSU's first overtime contest of the season.
Wayne State opened the first half scoring three goals, all in the first 20 minutes of the game, only to go scoreless the rest of the game. Four Mustangs contributed evenly in goal scoring, the first came in the 61
st minute by
Abbey Hoisington, her second of the season, assisted by
Kelli Wentz.
Erin Fisher scored in the 77
th minute, assisted by
Sofie Immens and
Emily Hofmann scored unassisted in the 89
th minute to tie the game at 3-3 before heading into overtime.
WSC opened overtime with three shots to SMSU's one shot from
Alli Miskowiec, saved by WSC's goalkeeper, before
Allie Cook scored her first goal of the season for the Mustangs, assisted by
Emily Hofmann to end the game 4-3.

Jessica Craigmile recorded four of her five saves in the first half, and her last save occurred in the 99
th minute in overtime, only a minute before the game was ended from Cook's goal, a free kick to end overtime.
The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team return for its home opener on Friday, Sept. 21 against Northern State at 6 p.m. at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
