MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team returned home last Saturday for a pair of games and earned two victories in the PE Gym.
SMSU defeated the Rolling Timberwolves, 60-31, before closing the day with a 73-35 victory over the Sioux Falls Wheelers.
The Mustangs improve to 8-10 overall on the season.
In the win over the Timberwolves,
Walter Johnson made 15 of 25 shots and finished with a game-high 34 points. He also pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds.
Jesus Villa added 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting with four rebounds.
Ezekiel Ramudzi scored five points and had eight rebounds for the Mustangs.
SMSU finished the game shooting 51 percent (26 of 51) from the field with a pair of 3-pointers.
In the victory over Sioux Falls, Johnson (20) and Villa (19) led the squad in scoring, while
Ryan Kile also finished in double figures with 10 points. The Mustangs shot 51 percent (33 of 65) from the field and made three 3-pointers.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to the court on Feb. 8-9 at the University of Illinois Tournament.
