LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team (11-5, 5-3 NSIC) grabbed the No. 12 spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Division II weekly poll released on Monday afternoon.
SMSU is 11-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference after a 0-2 weekend with a four-set loss to, then-ranked No. 7 Concordia-St. Paul, dand a three set loss to Minnesota State.
SMSU has been ranked in the Top 25 for 182 consecutive polls, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006.
SMSU is one of eight NSIC schools ranked in this week's Top 25 with Concordia-St. Paul taking the lead at No. 5, Northern State at No. 6, Minnesota Duluth at No. 7, St. Cloud State at No. 8, Wayne State at No. 11, SMSU at No. 12, Upper Iowa at No. 19, and Winona State at No 20. Sioux Falls, the ninth NSIC team to be ranked last week, was No. 24 in last week's poll, dropped out in this week's poll.
Southwest Minnesota State travels No. 11 Wayne State on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for a midweek contest at 6 p.m. in Wayne, Neb., before returning home to face Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston for a weekend homestead.
