MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball earned cruised to a 84-46 victory over non-conference opponent Presentation College (S.D.) in the home opener of the 2019-20 season on Saturday night.Â

SMSU improves to 3-0 before opening conference play while PC remains at 1-5 as tonight's game was an exhibition. The last time SMSU started off the season 3-0 was in the 2007-08 season.Â

SMSU shot 38 percent from the field (28 of 73) and 39 percent from the 3-point line (15 of 39) while PC shot 29 percent from the field (16 of 56) and 26 percent from beyond the arc ( of 19).Â

Sam Wall stepped on the court in the R/A Facility for the first time as a Mustang to lead the team in scoring with 14 points, with four 3-pointers. The Mustangs had three others in double-figures as
Meleah Reinhart contributed 13,
Jenna Borchers with 11 and
Sadie Stelter added 10.
Caleigh Rodning grabbed a team-high nine boards and also led with four steals.Â

SMSU pulled away from PC in the second quarter with a seven-point run to advance a 10-point lead at 29-19 to a 36-19 lead with a pair of buckets from Wall and
Erin Baxter, and a three-pointer from
Emily Buysse. SMSU would hold onto this lead until the remainder of the second quarter to end the first half with a 41-29.Â

Both teams were scoreless to open the third quarter until Rodning sunk a free-throw with 7:39 on the clock in the third. SMSU's scoring picked right back up after that as Borchers closed the 22-point quarter for the Mustangs with a three-pointer from the corner on the buzzer to secure the 64-40 lead with one quarter remaining.Â

PC was led in scoring by Jada Campbell who finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds on the night.Â

Southwest Minnesota State travels to Sioux Falls for the conference opener with a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Stewart Center on Wednesday, Nov. 20.Â
