SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team closed the regular season with a loss 95-83 loss to Augustana on Saturday afternoon at the Elmen Center.

SMSU finished the regular season 12-15 overall and 9-13 in the conference while Augie finished 21-10 and 13-9 in the conference.

SMSU shot 44 percent from the field and 41 percent from the 3-point line while Augie shot 46 percent and 41 percent from the 3-point line.

Meleah Reinhart tied her career-high with 22 points to lead SMSU in scoring.
Jenna Borchers recorded a career-high 15 while
Caleigh Rodning added 17 and
Sarah Buysse pitched in 11.
Abuk Akoi grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

Augustana maintained an edge over SMSU for the majority of the first quarter. SMSU trailed 28-24 with under one-minute remaining before Borchers drained a 3-pointer from the corner to make it a one-point game after the first quarter.

SMSU stayed within one point at 38-37 before both teams battle for the lead. With 3:14 to go in the second quarter,
Emily Buysse connects on a 3-pointer at the top of the key to take a 43-42 lead.

Augie responded with an 8-0 run to end the second quarter with a 50-43 lead.

Despite Augustana and Southwest Minnesota State scoring an even 23 each in the third quarter, Augustana prevailed to string several runs together late in the fourth to secure the victory, with a 5-0 run to finish the game.
