Hot-shooting MSUM pushes past SMSU

MOORHEAD, Minn.
-  The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team (11-11, 8-9 NSIC) fell 92-63 to conference-leader, MSU Moorhead (19-4, 15-2 NSIC), at Nemzek Fieldhouse on Friday night.
 
SMSU shot 37 percent from the field and 35 percent from the 3-point line, while MSUM shot 57 percent from the field and 59 percent from beyond the arc.
 
SMSU was led in scoring by Erin Baxter who poured in 17 points while Caleigh Rodning added 12.
 
Rodning finished the game 30-points shy of reaching the 1,000 point club.
 
SMSU trailed from the opening of the first quarter before Rodning went to the line to make it a one-point game at 15-14.
 
MSUM finished the first quarter on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter up 24-14.
 
MSUM's hot-shooting continued in the second quarter and throughout the remainder of the game to maintain the lead.
 
MSUM was led in scoring by Kiley Borowicz with 27 and had four players total to record double-digits.
 
Southwest Minnesota State continues action tomorrow afternoon at Northern State at 4 p.m.
