Wheelchair basketball heads to Nebraska for four games

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University returns to action this Friday and Saturday with four games in Omaha, Neb., and hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
 
SMSU, which is 6-7 overall, last competed on Dec. 6-7, splitting four games at the University of Missouri Tournament.
 
The Mustangs begin play on Friday at 11 a.m. taking on Omaha, before facing the University of Arizona at 1 p.m. SMSU closes the busy day with a 7 p.m. match-up versus Wisconsin-Whitewater. SMSU has defeated Omaha three times this season and has lost once to both Arizona and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
 
SMSU will wrap-up the weekend on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game versus the University of Missouri. SMSU has lost all three meetings to Missouri this season.
 
Senior Walter Johnson leads the team in scoring averaging 23.5 points per game, while shooting 58 percent (138 of 238) from the field. Senior Jesus Villa is scoring 18.2 ppg and shooting 45 percent (92 of 227) from the field. Johnson is averaging a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game, while Villa has dished out a team-high 60 assists.
 
SMSU is shooting 49 percent from the field this season and 50 percent from the free throw line. The Mustangs are averaging 63 points per game, while opponents are scoring 59 per game.
