MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team returns to the court today and Saturday with three games in Champaign, Ill., hosted by the University of Illinois.
SMSU, which is 10-9 overall, last competed on Feb. 1, defeating Sioux Falls by scores of 73-39 and 67-51.
The Mustangs have one game today (Friday) facing the University of Illinois at 12 p.m. The Mustangs have two games on Saturday, including an 8 a.m. match-up versus Auburn University before closing the weekend at 2 p.m. versus Edinboro University.
Following this weekend, SMSU will close the regular season on March 7 with a home game versus Sioux Falls as part of "Alumni Weekend". The Mustangs will also have a game versus SMSU Alumni on March 7.
SMSU will compete at the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on March 18-21 in Wichita, Kan.

Walter Johnson leads the team in scoring averaging 24.5 points per game, while shooting 61 percent (210 of 344) from the field. Senior
Jesus Villa is scoring 19.8 ppg and shooting 50 percent (149 of 326) from the field.
SMSU is shooting 52 percent from the field this season and 51 percent from the free throw line. The Mustangs are averaging 65 points per game, while opponents are scoring 58 per game.
