MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State (13-10, 8-10 NSIC) poured in 14 3-pointers for 47 percent shooting earn a 74-49 victory over Northern State (12-12, 8-9 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon in the R/A Facility for the annual "hawaiian night" game.

The Mustangs, who have won seven of the last nine games, shot 45 percent from the field (28-of-62) and 47 percent from beyond the arc (14-of-30). SMSU restricted NSU to 33 percent shooting (21-of-63) and 21 percent from the 3-point line (3-of-14).

The Mustangs were led by Sadie Stelter, who poured in 23 points, just one-point shy of tying her career high. Stelter, who finished with a team-high four 3-pointers, led the four Mustangs who finished in double-digits as Jenna Borchers came behind with 12, Meleah Reinhart ended with 11, and Sam Wall finished with 10.

Abuk Akoi grabbed a game-high 13 points, just two shy from tying her career-high.

The Wolves were led by Joie Spier who finished with 11 points.Â
Five of the Mustangs' 14 3-pointers came in the first quarter alone which boosted an early 12-point lead with a 22-10 lead after the first.
The Wolves went dry in the second quarter, only scoring nine points, as the Mustangs finished the half with a 34-19 lead.
The Mustangs took advantage of an 11-0 run in the third to advance to the largest lead of the night at 49-29.
The Mustangs closed the night off and secured the victory with another 22-point quarter to finish the game.
The Mustangs strung together four more 3-pointers and took advantage of 64 percent shooting (9-of-14) from the field to secure the 74-49 victory.
With just four regular seasons remaining, Southwest Minnesota State takes to the road next weekend at Winona State and Upper Iowa before returning home in the final conference weekend facing Augustana and Wayne State.
