OWATONNA, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a 7-0 loss to the University of Sioux Falls in NSIC action.
SMSU drops to 1-7 NSIC with the loss, while USF improves to 7-2 overall, 6-2 NSIC.
The Cougars earned the doubles point as
Cora Delich and
Paige Janka lost a hard-fought 7-5 match at No. 1 doubles.
Hanna Himmelman and
Cara Berkner lost 6-1 at No. 2, while
Rachel Steffen and
Taylor Bonestroo lost 6-0.
In singles play, Delich lost in three sets at No. 1, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2), while Janka lost to a score of 6-1, 6-2. Himmelman lost 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4, while Berkner (No. 3) and Bonestroo (No. 5) both lost in straight sets. USF earned a forfeit at No. 6.
Southwest Minnesota State will step out of NSIC play in two weeks with playing at Northwest Missouri State on March 13 and at Missouri Western State on March 14.
