MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team (3-8-1 overall, 2-7-1
NSIC) was unable to overcome a pair of goals in the first half, dropping a 2-0 decision to Northern State (5-4-3, 4-3-3) on Sunday afternoon at the
Schwan Regional Event Center.
The Wolves scored both goals with two minutes, as Megan Fastenau scored her sixth goal of the season in the 23
rd minute before Isabela Polanco Garcia netted a goal in the 24
th minute with a header off of a Mia Zagorski corner kick.
SMSU would outshoot Northern State 12-9, while recording seven shots on goal to the Wolves' five in the loss.
Abbey Hoisington would lead the way for the Mustangs offensive with four shots and two shots on goal.
Jessica Jugovich and
Kirsten Wetterstrom would each get a pair of shots on net as well.
Meghan Harkin collected three saves, including a save on both shots she faced in the second half.
SMSU hits the road, facing Bemidji State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, and Minnesota
Crookston at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24.
