MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team opens the 2021-22 season this Friday and Saturday hosting Wisconsin-Whitewater and Edinboro (Pa.) inside the PE Gym.
The Mustangs will play two games each day, first taking on Edinboro on Friday at 3:45 p.m., before closing with UWW at 7:15 p.m. Edinboro will play UWW on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, SMSU and Edinboro play at 9 a.m., followed by UWW and Edinboro at 10:45 a.m. and SMSU and UWW closing the day at 12:30 p.m.

Derek Klinkner enters his ninth season on the sideline and has 20 players on the roster with 12 returning letter winners from last season's team that finished 1-2 overall and placed fourth at the national tournament.
The team features four seniors along with five juniors, four sophomores and seven freshmen. Senior
Walter Johnson has led the team in scoring the past two seasons, while two other seniors,
Will Glendenning and
Ezekiel Ramudzi, both return after playing valuable minutes during their careers.
Southwest Minnesota State is scheduled to play in six tournaments during the regular season before competing at the 45th annual National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament from March 17-19, 2020, in Arlington, Texas.
