MARSHALL, Minn. -- The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team finished its opening day with a 1-1 record inside the R/A Facility.
SMSU opened play on Friday with a 72-21 victory over Edinboro before dropping a hard-fought 67-54 battle to Wisconsin-Whitewater.
In Friday's win over Edinboro,
Walter Johnson scored a game-high 20 points with teammate
Troy Beckford adding 14 points. The Mustangs shot 72 percent from the field in the victory.
Genaro Perez added to the scoring with eight points while shooting a perfect 4-4 from the field.
In the loss to UWW, Johnson scored 33 points with
Jacob Busch adding 12 points.
SMSU will be back in action Saturday morning with a rematch against Edinboro at 9 a.m., before a rematch with Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12:30 p.m.
