MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team closed its season-opening weekend splitting a pair of games on Saturday inside the PE Gym, defeating Edinboro (Pa.), 76-17, before losing to Wisconsin-Whitewater, 78-45.
SMSU opened play on Saturday shooting 65 percent (37 of 58) from the field in the victory over Edinboro with
Genaro Perez leading four players in double figure scoring with 20 points on 10 of 13 shooting.
Jesse Cochran (14),
Jacob Stevens (12) and
Walter Johnson (10) also all finished in double figure scoring as well.
In the setback to UWW, Johnson led the Mustangs with 15 points on 5 of 16 shooting.
Will Glendenning,
Jacob Busch,
Ezekiel Ramudzi and
Andrei Serafin all closed the game scoring six points each. The Mustangs finished the game shooting 42 percent (20 of 48) from the field.
SMSU, 2-2 overall, returns to the court on Nov. 19-20 with four games at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament.
