MARSHALL, Minn. -- The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team (6-3, 4-3 NSIC) lost to Augustana (7-3, 6-2 NSIC) 83-81 in overtime on Friday night at the R/A Facility. SMSU's
Sadie Stelter tied the score at 81 with 25 seconds to go in overtime, but with two seconds remaining Augustana's Lauren Sees would make a layup for the game-winning field goal.
SMSU struggled to keep Augustana quite when it counted, AU had its best shooting percentage in the second half of the game with 53.3 percent in the third period and a strong 50 percent in overtime, finishing the night shooting 41 percent. SMSU having its lowest shooting percentage during each of the same periods, 29.4 percent in the third and 25 percent in the fourth, the Mustangs finished the night shooting 36 percent.

Sadie Stelter had a huge night racking up a team-high 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Meleah Reinhart would finish right behind Stelter with 20 points on the night along with seven rebounds.
Caleigh Rodning would lead the team in rebounds with eight on the night along with getting six points.
Augustana's Aislinn Duffy would earn a double-double on the night and lead her team in points and rebounds, getting 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
In the first half it was all SMSU, with the Mustangs holding the lead for 16 minuets, and would get its biggest lead of the night off of a Stelter 3-pointer putting the Mustangs up 42-25 with 2:14 remaining in the second quarter and would go into halftime with a 44-29 lead. The Mustangs would push that lead up to 16 with 5:46 left in the third off of a Rodning layup, pushing the score 51-35.
Late in the third quarter Augustana would a make a push of its own, going on a 13-point run, the biggest of the game. The run started with AU's Izzy Veldhuizen 3-pointer and would be stopped by a Stelter Layup at the 2:03 mark in the third quarter. Augustana would keep momentum into the fourth quarter getting within one point of the Mustangs off of a Duffy layup with 48 seconds remaining.
Hannah Parsley was fouled and would go to the free-throw line with 14 seconds remaining, she would sink both of her free-throws pushing the lead up to two (73-71), Augustana would answer with two seconds remaining with Duffy again making a layup tieing the game and sending it to overtime.
In overtime the Mustangs struggled gaining momentum, with Augustana pushing the deficit to six with a score of 81-75 off a Duffy layup. The Mustangs would push late in overtime and would again tie the score at 81 off of a Stelter steal, and 3-pointer with 25 seconds left. Augustana's Sees would put up a shot with six seconds left and grab her own rebound, and with two seconds left in the game would make a layup and secure the game for Augustana.
SMSU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon in the R/A facility wrapping up the series against Augustana with a start time of 2 p.m.
