MINOT, N.D. – Following a pair of close games on Saturday with Southwest Minnesota State and Minot State splitting a pair of one-run extra-inning games, MSU used a 10-run first inning on Sunday to roll to a 24-7 victory and win the weekend series in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference baseball played at Corbett Field.

SMSU scored a run in the top of the first but MSU (17-12, 15-9 NSIC) answered with 10 runs on seven hits in the home half of the frame and never looked back in earning the victory.

Derek Smith led the Mustangs (11-18, 9-17 NSIC) with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Hunter Krommenhoek each finished with one hit. Kalenberg,
Robbie Smith and
Andy Andresen each collected one RBI.

Spencer Schroeder (1-2) made his first start of the season on the mound for SMSU and lasted 2/3 of an inning.
